What we offer

Five Rivers Teaching School Alliance is a nationally recognised training provider and has established a reputation for providing highly effective professional development for teachers and school leaders across the country.

Our Continuing Professional Development programme focusses on using a solid research base to develop highly effective training incorporating evidence-based strategies which can be immediately applied to your own school environment.  Many of our CPD courses are followed with bespoke school to school support to ensure effective and lasting school improvement.

Five Rivers Teaching School Alliance works closely with its professional partners to ensure that school to school support is available for schools no matter what their circumstances are. We have a number of NLEs, LLEs and SLEs who can be deployed to support schools in a wide range of different areas.

Through effective deployment of experienced National Leaders of Education, Local Leaders of Education and Specialist Leaders of Education we ensure that experienced educators use their knowledge of current research and their hands-on experience of working within schools to promote sustainable school-led system of self-improvement.

Please contact us if you wish to discuss brokerage of school to school support.

This form of training provides a unique route into teaching whereby individual schools or groups of schools work with Higher Education Institutes (HEI) to deliver training for ITT trainees. SSELP is working alongside Sheffield Hallam University to offer places in primary education for non-salaried trainees. The training route is one year long and leads to a PGCE with QTS and Masters credits.

We support ITT partners across the North to deliver effective School Based Initial Teacher Training designed by current and outstanding teachers. They are experts in their field and have mapped out a course that is exciting, innovative and manageable.  To find out more about our ITT partners, click here.

NQT Awarding Body

Education Success Partners
Five Rivers Teaching School Alliance is registered as an Appropriate Body for the assessment of Newly Qualified Teachers.  We work in partnership with Educational Success Partners Ltd (ESP) to offer Appropriate Body support to around 450 NQTs a year, providing a complete and comprehensive service to UK schools as well as British schools overseas.

An additional level of support (at no cost) for 2020/2021 has been added in order to help schools and their new recruits in the challenging times we all face with the global COVID-19 pandemic. We recognise the importance of NQT CPD to support the Induction year and have a well-established remote programme that will provide NQTs with access to training whatever the situation with restrictions travelling to venues and accessing face-to-face CPD. We are also mindful of the cost of CPD therefore want to support schools using our Induction service by providing our remote CPD package at no additional cost.

In these uncertain times we understand that it is critical that new staff feel supported before and during their NQT post and we believe that ESP is very well placed to provide this through our personalised and supportive service. Our dedicated and knowledgeable team are there to support NQTs in meeting the statutory responsibilities as well as developing their practice, self-reflection and confidence over the Induction year.

From as little as £220 per NQT, we believe that our service offers real value for money.  To find out more check out the ESP website www.espeducation.info  or email izzy@espeducation.co.uk.

Schools Direct
Five Rivers Teaching School Alliance is the lead school for Sheffield South East Learning Partnership (SSELP) ITT programme.  SSELP is a collaboration of 18 schools working together to share and promote excellent standards and practice in primary education. All the schools in SSELP are situated in areas of high deprivation, with many pupils on free school meals and high levels of special educational need. Many of the schools are multi-cultural and have a significant number of children with English as an additional language. The profile of the school populations means that the schools in SSELP have developed strong inclusive practice that enables all children to participate fully.

Many pupils enter the schools with lower than average levels of attainment, but we have high aspirations for our children and have developed practice that enables them to achieve against the odds. Some SSELP schools secure attainment higher than national averages and progress across SSELP is generally good or better. The collaboration as a whole has a proven track record of improving outcomes.

If you are interested in finding out more about the SSELP Schools Direct offer, please visit their website or contact Five Rivers TSA for further information.  http://sselp.net/school-direct.aspx
